Museum of World Treasures
The Museum of World Treasures provides the opportunity for visitors to discover treasures from around the world and through the ages. The museum’s mission is: “to provide a gateway to the past that educates, entertains and inspires lifelong learning.” At the Museum of World Treasure, visitors get to explore the bones of long-lost creatures, marvel at Egyptian mummies, uncover the secrets of ancient civilizations, and enter the battle field of world wars.
The Museum of World Treasure has three floors of exciting exhibits and a one of a one of a kind banquet room. The Museum of World Treasures was founded in 2001 by Dr. Jon and Lorna Kardatzke. The Museum of World Treasures is a non-profit corporation and is able to provide a variety of educational programs, entertaining events, and inspiring exhibits because of the generosity of its donors.
Botanica
A visit to Botanica would consume most of your day as it is the home of 30 beautiful gardens, which are each unique, inviting, and provides tranquillity.
Jayne Milburn Aquatic Collection
The Jayne Milburn Aquatic Collection is essentially a garden with a large assortment of aquatic plants. The redwood boardwalk that is situated above the Boeing Pond provides the pathway from which you can view the diverse selection of plant material; which is inclusive of lilies, lotus, water iris, water hyacinth, water lettuce, cattails and more.
The American Elm is situated on the north bank of the Jayne Milburn Aquatic collection, while the Weeping willow is situated on the south bank of the pond. Both armaments produce beautiful reflections in the pond and the numerous varieties of ornamental grasses create a natural screen and provide beautiful plumes during the fall and winter months.
Shakespeare Garden
The Shakespeare Garden is a blend of the formal and cottage gardens characteristic of the Elizabethan era and was dedicated in May 1987 and completed in 1988. The Shakespeare Garden features geometrically balance symmetrical pathways, which lead through the variety of perennial herbs and flowers. A number of the Shakespeare Garden’s featured plants are mentioned in Shakespeare’s works or were popular in the genteel gardens of his lifetime.
The Shakespeare Garden features teak benches, the Hawthorn trees, and a new limestone fountain; which was installed in 2009 and is symbolic of the Garden’s water source.
Beverly R Blue Teaching Garden
The Beverly R Blue Teaching Garden has two distinct motifs. To the east, there is a circular motif that has a seating area which is frequently used as an open class room and for weddings. To the west is a rectangular motif which features a diversity of plant material, including award-winning hosta, daylily and iris varieties.
