The Y provides a drop-in kid zone, where you can leave your child to supervised interaction with other kids their age, while you participate in some of the Y’s activities or watch them enjoy themselves. The drop-in kid zone at the Y provides your child with an enriching experience, where they can participate in activities, games, and crafts that reflect the core values of the YMCA.
The caring and professional kid zone staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid to ensure the safety of your child during their visit. The drop-in kid zone staff has developed a variety of age-appropriate activities to keep your child active and engaged, with games, stories, and free play.
The Y drop-in kid zone is available at all YMCA location and is available for use by children of Y members. The drop-in kid zone caters to children from ages 6 weeks to 7 years; parents get a maximum time of two hours to let their children engage in fun activities. For the safety of the child, a parent/guardian is required to sign the child in and out of the kid zone.

The Sedgwick County Zoo provides an early childhood learning adventure where your child gets the opportunity to learn about nature. The adventure is filled with play and interactive learning through which your child will be introduced to animals from all over the world. The Sedgwick County Zoo early childhood learning adventure is designed for newborns to kindergarten, and the programs were designed with parent participation in mind.
To participate in the Sedgwick County Zoo early childhood learning adventure an online registration is required and each child and adult must present an individual ticket for class. A minimum of two tickets must be purchased for each class, one child, and one adult. All classes are kept regardless of the weather and all reservations are final.
Children ages 12-23 months are provided with a first-hand experience of the wonders of animals. Each program lasts for a total of 30 minutes and provides an interactive experience and an animal visit. These classes take place from 10:00 am to 10:30 am or 11:00 am to 11:30 am and are held in the Cargill learning center.
Children ages 3, 4, and 5 get to experience regular interactions with the Zoo’s animal ambassadors in the classroom at the animal tales preschool. The animal tales preschool at the Sedgwick County Zoo strives to be a green preschool by using environmentally friendly material and integrating conservation techniques in the classroom.
